Mediation
Voluntary, confidential mediation in which an impartial facilitator helps the parties identify the real issues, explore options, and craft a resolution they design themselves. Agreements reached can be written into a binding settlement.
Start a resolution
The disputes this process suits.
Commercial disputes, contract disagreements, workplace conflicts, neighbour and community matters, family and estate disputes, and any situation where ongoing relationships matter and the parties prefer to author their own outcome.
Voluntary & party-led
Nothing is imposed. The mediator manages the process; the parties manage the outcome. That makes resolutions more durable — and more likely to be honoured.
Confidential
Sessions are private. Statements made in mediation are generally without prejudice and inadmissible in subsequent proceedings, allowing candid exploration of options.
Faster & more affordable
Most mediations conclude in one or two sessions. The cost is a small fraction of contested litigation, with no court delays.
Tailored procedure
Joint sessions, private caucuses, hybrid models — the format is adapted to the parties and the nature of the dispute.
How the matter moves.
Intake
Brief, confidential pre-mediation calls to understand the dispute and confirm fit.
Agreement to mediate
Parties sign a mediation agreement setting out confidentiality, fees, and procedure.
Mediation session
Facilitated discussion — joint and/or private — to surface interests, explore options, and negotiate.
Settlement
Where the parties reach agreement, terms are documented in a binding written settlement.
Common questions about this process.
Is mediation binding?+
Mediation itself is not binding, but any written settlement signed by the parties is. Unresolved issues can still proceed to arbitration or court.
Do we both need lawyers?+
Not required, but parties may bring counsel. Independent legal advice is always recommended before signing a settlement.
How long does it take?+
Most disputes resolve in a single 3–6 hour session. Complex matters may take additional sessions.
